Beloved Husband and Father

Locust Gap - Robert D. Minnich, 81, of Locust Gap, passed away peacefully at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville on October 16, 2023. He was a loving husband and father who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Robert was born in Locust Gap on February 26, 1942, a son of the late Robert and Margaret (nee Smith) Minnich. He graduated from Mount Carmel High School in 1960 and went on to earn a degree in accounting from Bloomsburg University in 1964. After college, Robert served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1966.

Robert began his career in accounting at his father's firm, Minnich and Associates, in 1966. He became a partner in 1970 and took over the firm after his father's death in 1985. Robert was a respected accountant who dedicated himself to providing high-quality service to his clients.

Robert was a devoted family man. He married his wife, Mary Ellen, in 1968 and they had two children, Robert and Jennifer. Robert was a loving husband and father who always put his family first. He enjoyed spending time with his family and attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events.

Robert was also an active member of his community. He was a member of the Locust Gap United Methodist Church, the American Legion, and the Lions Club. He enjoyed volunteering his time to help others.

Robert will be remembered as a kind and caring man who always put others before himself. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Mary Ellen, Robert is survived by his children, Robert (Theresa) Minnich of Lititz, and Jennifer (John) Mitchell of Selinsgrove; his grandchildren, Emma, Luke, and Ava Minnich, and Emily and Benjamin Mitchell; and his sister, Mary Ann (William) Koch of Pottsville.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM at the Locust Gap United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park. Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 19, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the church.
